The Living is Easy - Summer 2011

This summer, the living is easy for my clients, who have been coming home to grill-ready entrees, luscious summer salads and fresh fruit dishes, courtesy of their personal chef (that would be me).

Lighter fare is the ticket for hot summer nights. Some of my new creations include:

- Vegetable Pad Thai
- Pesto Chicken Salad
- Crab-Stuffed Fillet of Sole
- Quinoa and Grilled Sourdough Salad
- Buttermilk Chicken Cutlets with Fresh Corn Salsa
- Baja Fish Tacos
- Greek Orzo with Spinach and Feta (with or without grilled shrimp)

Pour a cold beverage, have a seat on your deck, and enjoy. That's what summer should be all about.

New Year, New You?

The new year seems to have brought out the dieter in two of my clients. 
What better way to stay commited to your weight-loss goal than to have a personal chef prepare the foods for your specific diet, packaged in individual portions, so there's no guessing about serving size?

I've become very well-versed in South Beach Diet recipes: Cheesy Frittata with Vegetables, Chicken en Papillote, Oven-Roasted Vegetables and Broiled Tomatoes with Pesto are tasty dishes prepared with wholesome ingredients that South Beach Dieters love to eat.

I've also been making 350-calorie protein/vegetable meals for another client. Anything but boring, her dinners have included Raspberry-Balsamic Chicken with Herb-Roasted Carrots, Orange Beef with Broccoli, and Miso-Glazed Cod with Edamame Succotash. These meals are fresh, tasty and just what the doctor ordered.

For those who need a little help getting healthy meals on the table, Chef Martha now offers Menu Planning and Culinary Coaching. After we discuss your needs and preferences, I will put together a binder for you containing five dinner menus, recipes and shopping lists, and we'll schedule a short coaching session, during which I can help you streamline your meal preparation, clean out your pantry, or teach you a few new techniques. Chef Martha will come to your home and teach you how to prepare quick, healthy lunches or dinners for you and your family.

You will gain the skills, knowlege and confidence to prepare wonderful, healthy meals in your own kitchen. During our 2- to 4-hour session, we'll prepare a meal for you to serve your family that evening, as well as another dish or two to refrigerate for the next night.

Cooking lessons are priced at $50/hour (for an individual or couple), plus the cost of groceries. Groups are priced according to group size and desired level of instruction.
